Depth of your Thoughts

Ludum Dare 57 - 06/04/2025

Context : 

Saturday April the 4th. The theme is Depths. 
I have one idea: I want to try out the 3D. 

Yep, it's my second prototype and I know it's ambitious in 24h.
Because yes : I only have until sundy, 6pm even if the gamejam last longer. 

My idea is simple : I don't want to create an ocean game, and I don't want a super fun gameplay neither. 

"Depths" reminds me the deep thinking I can have every night, like many other people. 

So here it is : a game that seems to be quiet and calm. But in reality is much louder than it sounds. 

What I've learned : 

• Create a 3D project 
• Use probuilder in Unity
• Dowload and use free assets 
• Apply terrain assets on terrain 
• Change the environment light 
• Import a 3D character
• Use the animator to animate my character
• Create footsteps sounds and make them match to my walk animation 
• Create a camera placed on a CameraHolder for a FPS view
• Trigger a fall animation 
• Create narrative entries that are triggered when I want them 
• Display a counting number 

What I've struggled with ! 

• Animators
• Camera movement
• Assets
• And didn't manage to display the text with a "typing machine" and sound effect
• Also, when I displayed button in the pause menu (Quit and Resume), they didn't work
